The Ministry of National Defence (MApN) announced that a Letter of Intent on cooperation between the Ministries of National Defence of Romania and Poland under the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) financial instrument was signed on Wednesday at the institution's headquarters.

According to a release from the Ministry of National Defence sent to AGERPRES, the Letter of Intent was signed by Major General Dr. Eng. Ion-Cornel Plesa, Head of the General Directorate for Armaments within the Ministry of National Defence, and Brigadier General Romuald Maksymiuk, Head of the General Directorate for Armaments within the Polish Ministry of National Defence.

'By signing the Letter of Intent, the two defence ministries agreed to intensify cooperation in support of the defence industries of both countries, both bilaterally and within NATO and the European Union, and to collaborate closely on the procurement of the loitering munition strike system, one of the projects managed by the MApN that will be funded through the SAFE mechanism,' the cited source notes.

The ceremony took place in the presence of State Secretary Sorin Moldovan, Head of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations within the Ministry of National Defence, and Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, State Secretary at the Polish Ministry of Defence, who is on an official visit to Bucharest, the Ministry of National Defence reports.
