The member states of the 'Friends of Competitiveness' group agree on the need for urgent measures to mitigate energy prices, for instance, through greater budgetary flexibility in implementing compensatory support measures, stated Nicusor Dan on Tuesday, adding that Romania supports realistic solutions that allow domestic industry to develop and undergo the climate transition without losing its competitiveness.
Nicusor Dan participated on Tuesday via videoconference in a new discussion held by the 'Friends of Competitiveness' group, alongside leaders from 19 EU member states, ahead of next week's European Council meeting.
'We discussed the role of energy prices in boosting competitiveness, international trade, and the simplification and reduction in bureaucracy within the European Union. The group's member states agree on the need for urgent measures to mitigate energy prices, for instance, through greater budgetary flexibility in implementing compensatory support measures. Romania supports realistic solutions that allow domestic industry to develop and undergo the climate transition without losing its competitiveness. Regarding the simplification of legislation and the reduction of bureaucracy, it is important to accelerate the implementation of measures to create a simpler European single market, particularly through the 'Eu Inc.' initiative. This initiative envisages the introduction of a single set of rules at the European level and would allow entrepreneurs to more easily set up a company in any Member State,' he wrote on Facebook.
