The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies will convene in a joint sitting on Wednesday to vote on the governing programme and the list of ministers proposed by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan.

The joint sitting is scheduled for 13:00.

In the joint plenary sitting, the candidate designated for the prime minister office will have 30 minutes to be used at the beginning and end of the debates.

The parliamentary groups in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have been allocated the maximum time corresponding to the number of their members, calculated at five seconds per MP, with unaffiliated deputies and senators added using the same calculation.

Thus, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) has been allocated 11 minutes, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) eight minutes, the National Liberal Party (PNL) seven minutes, the Save Romania Union (USR) five minutes, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) three minutes, the parliamentary group United for Romania one minute, the parliamentary group of national minorities one minute, SOS Romania one minute, PACE - Romania First one minute and unaffiliated senators and deputies two minutes.

On 17 September, President Nicusor Dan designated Liberal Siegfried Muresan as candidate for the prime minister office, with the support of the PNL, the USR and the UDMR.

According to article 103, paragraph 2 of the Constitution of Romania, 'the candidate to the office of Prime Minister shall, within ten days of his designation, seek the vote of confidence of Parliament upon the programme and complete list of the Government.'

The programme and the list of the Government are debated by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate in a joint sitting. Parliament grants confidence to the Government by a majority of vote of deputies and senators, the Constitution provides.

Siegfried Muresan is President Nicusor Dan's third proposal for prime minister, following the dismissal of the Bolojan Government by a censure motion almost five months ago, on 5 May.

The ministers proposed for the Muresan Government were heard on Monday and Tuesday by the parliamentary committees.

Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan submitted the governing programme and the list of Cabinet members to Parliament last Saturday.

The team he is presenting to Parliament is made up of the following:

* Oana Gheorghiu (PNL) - Minister of Health

* Catalin Drula (USR) - Minister of Transport and Infrastructure

* Cseke Attila (UDMR) - Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration

* Raluca Turcan (PNL) - Minister of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity

* Dragos Pislaru (PNL) - Minister of Investments and European Projects

* Irinel Darau (USR) - Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism

* Diana Buzoianu (USR) - Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests
