In a bid to present an integrated investment offer for Mures County to global investors, local and county authorities, the business community and academia will, for the first time, take part under a joint identity - 'Why Mures' in EXPO REAL Munich 2026, held between 5-7 October.

According to the Targu Mures Municipality, Mures County is participating under the joint identity 'Why Mures' in EXPO REAL Munich, one of the most important international fairs dedicated to investment, real-estate development and infrastructure. Between 5-7 October, local and county authorities, the business sector and academia will jointly present the region's development projects and investment opportunities to international investors. The initiative was launched by the Advisory Council for Business and Education established at the level of Targu Mures Municipality. 'For the first time, local and county authorities, the business community and academia are promoting the county together in front of international investors. The county is going to Munich with an offer built around five pillars: urban regeneration, industrial and technological development, infrastructure, green energy, tourism and leisure,' the Targu Mures Municipality announced in a release.

The Mures delegation will be present at Romania's national stand (A1.241), organised by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK Romania), alongside the Center Regional Development Agency, the Oradea Local Development Agency and private companies. The local partnership includes the Mures County Council, Targu Mures Municipality, the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation, the 'George Emil Palade' University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology (UMFST), and Visit Mures.

Under the 'Why Mures' identity, the county will highlight to potential investors that it hosts €2 billion in foreign direct investment and has over €3 billion in ongoing public and private projects, including motorways, hospital facilities, the new terminal of Transylvania International Airport and industrial infrastructure.

The region's direct connectivity to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) - via the A3 motorway, major railway lines and an airport with 15 international destinations - will also be emphasised.

A key argument regarding human capital is UMFST Targu Mures, an institution with over 14,000 students, whose programmes are aligned with labour-market needs and complemented by dual-education pathways at the Ergopolis Centre.

To support discussions with potential investors, the consortium is launching the online platform www.whymures.ro, a digital guide centralising available land plots, buildings suitable for redevelopment and opportunity maps collected from local administrations across the county.
