The Constanta Casino is a finalist in the prestigious European Museum Academy Awards 2026 competition in Spain, representatives of the cultural institution announced on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the Constanta Casino Museum reached the final of the European Museum Academy Awards 2026, an initiative dedicated to developing and promoting research, innovation, and best practices in museology, with the event taking place on September 26 at MARQ (Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante) in Spain.

'For Constanta, reaching the final of the DASA Award 2026 represents international recognition of the Casino museum project and of how built heritage can serve as a starting point for a contemporary, accessible, and public-oriented museum experience,' stated Anamaria Misa, General Manager of the Constanta Casino.

The Constanta Casino museum project was selected as one of the five finalists for the DASA Award 2026, a major European distinction recognizing education, accessibility, and new forms of engagement between museums and the public, alongside the ZOOM Children's Museum (Vienna, Austria), the Ocean Museum Germany (Stralsund, Germany), The Home of the Human Safety Net (Venice, Italy), and The Walery Rzewuski Museum of the History of Photography in Kraków (MuFo, Poland), the latter of which ultimately won the DASA Award 2026.

'The selection of the Constanta Casino Museum as a finalist for the DASA Award 2026 places the museum project developed within this Art Nouveau monument in a European context dedicated to museum innovation and the relationship between heritage and the public,' the release adds.

Opened in 2025 following the restoration of the Constanta Casino, the museum offers an experience spanning 1,100 square meters in which the building itself becomes an essential part of the exhibition. The curatorial concept, scenography, and multimedia elements are integrated into a journey dedicated to the history and memory of both the Casino and the city of Constanta.
