Romanian men's national volleyball team qualified for the round of 16 at the 2026 European Volleyball Championship - CEV Enel EuroVolley 2026, hosted by Italy, Bulgaria, Finland and Romania, after defeating Türkiye 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18) on Monday evening at the BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, in a Group E match.

The Tricolours secured the win in one hour and 50 minutes of play, claiming their second victory after a 3-1 win over Switzerland.

Alexandru Rata, with 22 points, was the best player for Sergiu Stancu's team, in front of 3,875 spectators. Cristian-Daniel Chitigoi, with 16 points, and Marian Bala, with 12 points, also put in impressive performances.

For the visitors, Gokcen Yuksel (17 points), Efe Bayram (14) and Kaan Gurbuz (10) stood out.

In another match, Germany beat Switzerland 3-1.

Germany top the standings with four wins (11 points), followed by France, three wins (9 points), Romania, two wins (7 points), Latvia, one win (3 points), Türkiye, one win (3 points), and Switzerland (0 points). The top four teams qualify for the round of 16, with the number of wins the first criterion, followed by points.
