An exhibition featuring 60 photographs by photographer Stefan Toth Istvan, inspired by the life and traditions of the Slovak community in Bihor, will be presented on September 19 under the title 'The Slovaks of Valea Cerului Festival'.

The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday in the presence of the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Romania, Peter Hatiar, as part of Slovak Culture Days (September 18-20).

'The exhibition brings together images capturing the festive atmosphere of the Slovak festival in the village of Valea Cerului, the faces of the people, traditions and moments that give the Slovak community in Bihor County its identity,' the author, Stefan Toth Istvan, president of the International Association 'Euro Foto Art' (AIEFA), said in a press release.

His photographs cover genres including portraiture, social photography, visual essays, photojournalism and landscapes. Stefan Toth Istvan took the photographs during the International Slovak Youth Folklore Festival, held on July 18-19 2026 in Valea Cerului, Suplacu de Barcau rural town, during its 20th edition.

Through his images, the renowned photographic artist offers the public a glimpse into the everyday and festive world of the Slovaks of Bihor, highlighting the cultural heritage and traditions preserved by the community.

'The Slovaks of Valea Cerului Festival' exhibition will take place at the Euro Foto Art Gallery in the Citadel. Speakers at the event will include Adrian Miroslav Merka, president of the Democratic Union of Slovaks in Romania, and photographic artist Stefan Toth Istvan, in his capacity as president of AIEFA.

The exhibition will be officially opened by His Excellency Peter Hatiar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Romania. The opening will also feature musical performances of Slovak folk songs by young performers.

The exhibition will remain open until October 1 and can be visited free of charge on weekdays. The collection can also be viewed online on the website of the International Association 'Euro Foto Art'.

As part of a partnership with local public transport operator OTL SA, the works will also be displayed on screens aboard public transport vehicles in Oradea, bringing artistic photography closer to the public.

The exhibition is organised by the International Association 'Euro Foto Art' in partnership with Summit Agro Romania, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Romania. The event is part of the 'Slovak Culture Days' programme organised by the Democratic Union of Slovaks in Romania in partnership with Visit Oradea, Oradea City Hall and the Department for Slovaks Abroad within the Government of Slovakia.
