The radar surveillance system of the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) detected, at around 4:15am on Friday, a group of aerial targets approximately 16 kilometres north of Vylkove (Ukraine), near the border with Romania.

According to a MApN release sent to AGERPRES, the National Military Command Centre notified the Inspectorate General for Emergency Situations (IGSU) about the implementation of measures to alert the population in northern Tulcea county, and a RO-ALERT message was sent at 4:36am.

'Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, on Air Policing duty at the 86th Borcea Air Base, took off to monitor the situation,' the release informed.

The air alert in northern Tulcea county ended at 6:30am, with no reports of incursions into national airspace, the MApN mentioned. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Mihai Stoica; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
