Prince Radu took part in the anniversary ceremony marking 165 years of veterinary medical education in Bucharest, held in the Prof. Dr. Aurel Popoviciu Hall of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Bucharest University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV).

The event included the launch of the commemorative album '165 Years of Veterinary Medical Education in Bucharest' and the presentation of the anniversary medal, awarded to His Royal Highness Prince Radu, the Ministry of Education and Research, and the USAMV Consortium, the Romanian Royal Family announced on Wednesday in a Facebook post.



Speeches were delivered by Sorin Mihai Cimpeanu - Rector of USAMV Bucharest, and Prince Radu, followed by remarks from the faculty Dean, Iuliana Ionascu, and Secretary of State for Higher Education Gigel Paraschiv, who conveyed the message of the Ministry of Education and Research.

The series of addresses continued with an intervention by Professor Emeritus Nicolae Constantin, the faculty's senior dean, and the message of the USAMV Consortium, presented by Cornel Catoi, Rector of USAMV Cluj-Napoca. Gabriela Marinoschi, Vice-President of the Romanian Academy, and Mihnea Costoiu, Rector of the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, also delivered remarks.

The anniversary marks 165 years of continuous activity in veterinary medical education in the capital city.

The institution's history is closely tied to the Romanian Crown, its development strengthened by the historic act signed by King Carol I in 1886, which elevated it to the Higher School of Veterinary Medicine, and later completed by King Ferdinand I, who granted it university faculty status by law.
