Parliament's joint Standing Bureaus approved on Tuesday new interim leadership teams at the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation (SRR) and the Romanian Television Broadcasting Corporation (SRTV).
Razvan Dinca was designated president-director general of the public radio broadcaster, while journalist Sorina Matei was appointed director general and chair of the Board of Administration at SRTV, according to the decision of the joint Bureaus.
UDMR floor leader Csoma Botond said after the meeting that the situation is 'a special one,' following a Constitutional Court ruling.
'No justification was given, only the names were read out. (...) PSD and AUR voted,' he specified.
On 29 April, the Constitutional Court upheld AUR's challenges to Parliament's decisions appointing members of the Boards of Administration at SRTV and SRR, ruling the decisions unconstitutional.
The Court found that the eight seats allocated to parliamentary groups in the boards of the two public broadcasters should have been filled according to the political configuration and proportional weight of the groups.
At the beginning of September, AUR asked the Court to expedite drafting and sending the decisions for publication in the Official Journal, noting that 127 days had passed since the rulings on unconstitutionality. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Catalina Matei; EN - writing by: Simona Klodnischi)
