President Nicusor Dan welcomed on Thursday President of the European Council Antonio Costa at the Cotroceni Palace.

Antonio Costa was welcomed by the head of state in the Hall of Honor of the Cotroceni Palace.

The two high officials will hold one-to-one talks and official discussions, which will be followed by a joint news conference.

According to the official agenda of Antonio Costa, he will travel to Sofia and Athens during the day, where he will be welcomed by Bulgarian Prime Minister Ruman Radev and
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, respectively.

Antonio Costa visited Bucharest in September last year. Back then, he underscored that Romania is a key element for the European security. In his turn, President Nicusor Dan said that the visit of the European Council President to Romania represents 'a proof of European solidarity.'
