The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4% in July, down 0.4 percentage points from June this year, but remained high among young people, at 30.8%, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data released on Tuesday.

The estimated number of unemployed people (aged 15-74) was 526,800 in July 2026, down from the previous month, when 555,500 unemployed people were recorded, but up from the same period last year, when there were 484,800 unemployed people.

By sex, the unemployment rate among women was 0.5 percentage points higher than among men, at 6.7% for women and 6.2% for men.

Among adults aged (25-74), the unemployment rate was estimated at 5.2% in July 2026 (5.0% for men and 5.5% for women).
