The Romanian National Opera House of Timisoara (ONRT) on Tuesday became a member of Opera Europa, one of the most prestigious networks of opera houses in the world, which is a European recognition of the value of the organisation.

'It is a huge step. A confirmation. An opening to Europe. It is a moment of pride for Timisoara and for the Romanian National Opera House of Timisoara, and joining Opera Europa is a European recognition of the value of the Romanian National Opera House of Timisoara and a clear sign of the success of the direction of artistic excellence, professionalism and international openness since the beginning of the tenure of interim manager Mihaela Simziana Marcu Calin. It is a new sign that the value of ONRT is recognised at European level and that Timisoara naturally occupies its place on the map of the great lyrical institutions of Europe,' according to ONRT Public Relations officer Florin Brinzei.

The new European dimension of ONRT is the recognition of a value built by entire generations of artists, conductors, directors, musicians and professionals of the Timisoara stages, who have made the Romanian National Opera House in Timisoara a landmark of the Romanian lyrical life.
