Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan held a phone conversation on Tuesday with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, focusing on the main security challenges in the region, particularly the war in Ukraine and the security situation in the Black Sea.

According to the Government, Bolojan thanked the Secretary General and NATO for the support provided to Romania, stressing the need for the Alliance to maintain its attention on the Eastern Flank and the Black Sea. He highlighted the importance of deploying allied capabilities in Romania, given the recent increase in drone incursions into national maritime and airspace.

'Another topic discussed, beyond the situation generated by drone incidents, was the security of navigation in the Black Sea,' the Government said.
