Interim PM Bolojan: CET Palas in Constanta and CET Hidrocarburi in Arad connected to National Energy System

CET Palas in Constanta and CET Hidrocarburi in Arad were connected to the National Energy System on Friday, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced.

'Transelectrica and Retele Electrice Romania today issued their approval and notification for the energisation of two important projects funded through the PNRR [National Recovery and Resilience Plan]: CET Palas in Constanta and CET Hidrocarburi in Arad. The two new power plants are now connected to the National Energy System and, in terms of funding, the projects are considered completed. In the coming months, the facilities will undergo testing and commissioning, with the plants expected to operate normally from the cold season onwards,' Bolojan wrote on Facebook.

According to him, the two state-of-the-art power plants will increase the efficiency of district heating systems and ensure electricity and heat production for tens of thousands of flats.

In Constanta, the new power plant will have a cogeneration capacity of 97 MW, while in Arad electricity production will reach more than 30 MW, around three times higher than before the upgrade. AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Georgiana Tanasescu; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
