Turnover in industry fell by 0.5% in nominal terms in the period 1 January - 30 June 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, overall, as a result of a decline in the manufacturing industry (-0.9%), according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data released on Tuesday.
According to the INS, the extractive industry increased by 10.2%.
By major industrial groups, declines were recorded in: the capital goods industry (-4.8%), the durable goods industry (-4.3%) and the non-durable goods industry (-0.8%). Increases were recorded in the energy industry (+14.4%) and the intermediate goods industry (+1.7%).
Turnover in industry also increased by 6.1% in nominal terms in June 2026 compared with the previous month, overall, due to increases in the extractive industry (+29.1%) and the manufacturing industry (+5.1%).
By major industrial groups, increases were recorded in: the intermediate goods industry (+8.4%), the capital goods industry (+7.8%), the durable goods industry (+4.9%) and the non-durable goods industry (+3.5%). The energy industry declined by 3.1%.
Furthermore, turnover in industry increased by 4.4% in nominal terms in June 2026 compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, overall, due to increases recorded in the extractive industry (+49.7%) and the manufacturing industry (+2.8%).
By major industrial groups, increases were recorded in: the energy industry (+28.4%), the intermediate goods industry (+8.8%) and the durable goods industry (+2.2%).
