'World 2026: Finding Stability in Times of Uncertainty' was the theme of the sixth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, held in Kyiv, which was attended by President Nicusor Dan's life partner Mirabela Gradinaru, who thus responded to the invitation of Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.

This year's meeting held special significance as it coincided with the anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day.

According to a post on the Facebook page 'Romania in the Spotlight,' this year's event focused on the resilience of societies in times of crisis and uncertainty, as well as the ability of communities to recover, remain united and strong, and act for the benefit of their citizens.

'Beyond the lessons learned by Ukraine in the context of the war, each country shared its experience regarding the ability of people and institutions to adapt, withstand pressure and recover. The summit also saw the launch of a Global Resilience Glossary, with each partner of a head of state presenting a relevant national concept. Romania's contribution to the Resilience Glossary was the word 'dârzenie' [steadfastness], and First Lady Mirabela Gradinaru explained the choice of the term: 'The word 'dârzenie' expresses determination, but also the ability of people and communities to remain upright when circumstances are difficult, while preserving their dignity, essence and sense of responsibility. It is about protecting what is essential, supporting one another and defending the shared values of our community',' the cited source said.

In this context, Mirabela Gradinaru expressed her admiration for the 'extraordinary' resilience shown by Ukraine amid the war and for the determination of its people to defend their homes, freedom, identity and future.

She pointed out that the solidarity of the Romanian people with Ukrainians is also a form of resilience, through the support provided by Romanian communities to Ukrainian families and children and through support for humanitarian efforts.

'Faced with the challenges we share today, one fundamental truth emerges - when societies remain united, pressure cannot weaken them. On the contrary, it will bring into even sharper focus the inner strength they possess,' Mirabela Gradinaru said, according to the cited source.

The summit dedicated to the partners of world leaders was launched in 2020 by Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, with the aim of creating a platform for discussion on issues affecting the development of society, citizens' well-being, education and health.
