The entire country will be under heatwave and thermal discomfort alerts on Tuesday and Wednesday, with maximum temperatures ranging between 31 and 41 degrees.

According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), a Code Yellow warning for heatwave conditions and exceptionally high temperatures will be in force from 3 August, 10:00 to 4 August, 10:00 in areas of Oltenia, Moldavia, western and south-western Muntenia and southern Transylvania.

Thus, on Monday (3 August), the heatwave will persist in Oltenia, Moldavia, western and south-western Muntenia and southern Transylvania. Exceptionally high temperatures will be recorded, with heatwave conditions in some areas, high thermal discomfort and a temperature-humidity index (THI) reaching the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range between 33 and 37 degrees, with the highest values in southern Banat. In some areas, the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20-22 degrees.

A second Code Yellow heatwave warning will also be in force from 4 August, 10:00 to 5 August, 10:00 in Muntenia, Dobrogea, most of Moldavia and Oltenia, as well as eastern and south-eastern Transylvania. Exceptionally high temperatures will be recorded, with heatwave conditions over large areas, high thermal discomfort and a temperature-humidity index (THI) reaching the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range between 31 and 32 degrees on the coast and in eastern Transylvania, and 37-38 degrees in Oltenia and south-western Muntenia. In some areas, the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20-24 degrees, the highest values expected on the coast.

On the other hand, a Code Orange warning has also been issued for the period from 3 August, 10:00 to 4 August, 10:00, covering the counties of Caras-Severin, Timis, Hunedoara, Alba, Mures, Cluj, Salaj, Bistrita-Nasaud and Maramures, where the heatwave will persist and intensify on Monday, with heatwave conditions and maximum temperatures ranging between 35 and 38 degrees. Thermal discomfort will be pronounced and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Locally, the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20-24 degrees.

From Tuesday morning until Wednesday, 10:00, another Code Orange warning for persistent and intense heatwave conditions will be in force in Maramures, southern Banat, most of Transylvania, north-eastern Moldavia and south-western Oltenia.

In these areas, maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 39 degrees, with the highest values in the counties of Caras-Severin, Mehedinti and Dolj. Thermal discomfort will be pronounced, the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, while locally the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20-24 degrees, the highest values expected in the Banat Hills.
