The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued a Code Orange heatwave warning for four counties and a Code Yellow warning for 14 counties, valid until Saturday at 10:00.
According to the ANM, during the mentioned period, the counties of Timis, Arad, Bihor and Satu Mare will be under Code Orange warning, with heatwave conditions and maximum temperatures around 38 degrees. Thermal discomfort will be high and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20...24 degrees.
On the other hand, on Friday (31 July), in southern and western Oltenia, southern Banat, most of Transylvania and Maramures, temperatures will be exceptionally high for this time of year, with heatwave conditions locally, rising thermal discomfort and the temperature-humidity index (THI) reaching the critical threshold of 80 units in some areas. Maximum temperatures will range between 33...35 degrees in most of Transylvania and around 37 degrees in southern Banat. In some areas, the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures of 20...22 degrees.
The counties of Maramures, Salaj, Bistrita-Nasaud, Cluj, Mures, Alba, Sibiu, Brasov, Hunedoara, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj and Olt, as well as part of Harghita, will be under a Code Yellow warning. AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Nicoleta Gherasi; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
