Romania's only festival dedicated to truffles opened on Friday in the village of Cacica, aiming to promote truffles in local gastronomy and to showcase Bucovina to Romanian and foreign tourists.
According to the event website, the Truffle Festival brings together 'two treasures of Romania: authentic folklore - with dances, traditional costumes and crafts - and truffles, the hidden gold of Bucovina's oak and beech forests'. For three days, renowned chefs cook live with Romanian truffles, folk ensembles perform on stage, and truffle hunters present their trained dogs in demonstrations, all in what organizers describe as a 'modern working bee gathering style atmosphere'.
The festival, which runs until Sunday, is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Cultural Tourism and aims to blend history, tourism, crafts, traditional products, cuisine, nature, music and entertainment.
The organizers said numerous folk and pop artists will perform over the three days, with headline acts by Feli and F Charm. Special guests include motivational speaker Cerasela Rogen and fashion stylist Adina Buzatu.
Now in its third edition, the festival joins for the first time Emblematic Romania - the country-brand initiative promoting Romania's image internationally.
'Emblematic Romania is built on the belief that a country's image is shaped by inspiring people, impressive places and initiatives that create value. Our role is to identify these landmarks, bring them together under a shared vision and offer them the recognition they deserve. The Truffle Festival naturally complements this mission and shows that authenticity can become a competitive advantage for Romania,' said founder Camelia Botezatu, as quoted in the release.
Festival initiator Mihai Robu said the partnership marks a new stage in the event's development and amplifies its impact.
'The Truffle Festival was born out of respect for nature and for those who understand its value. Joining Emblematic Romania gives this initiative a platform through which the story of the Romanian truffle can travel further and strengthen an image built on authenticity, professionalism and excellence,' Robu said.
