A drone was detected by the Ministry of National Defence's (MApN) radar surveillance system after entering Romania's airspace east of Sulina, with two F-16 fighter aircraft from the 86th Air Base, Fetesti, taking off at 08:53 to monitor the situation.

According to a MApN release sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the National Military Command Centre notified the Inspectorate General for Emergency Situation (IGSU) about the implementation of population alert measures in Tulcea county, with a RO-Alert message being sent at 08:47.

'The target was present in national airspace for a short period before crossing the border and heading towards Ukraine. Shortly afterwards, explosions were reported on the Ukrainian territory,' the MApN conveyed. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Mihai Stoica; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
