Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, announced on Monday that the Polish chief diplomat Radek Sikorski conveyed to her Poland's firm condemnation of the recent illegal incursions into Romania's airspace.

''We discussed the performance of the Romanian Army's pilots and the fragments of the Russian drone recovered from our territory, our countries' diplomatic response to the Russian Federation, the strengthening of European sanctions packages, close coordination within NATO, and the intensification of cooperation between the states on the Eastern Flank — a shared diplomatic and military priority,'' Toiu wrote on X.3 platform.

She reminded that ''at the European Union level, within the most recent Foreign Affairs Council, we agreed on intensified coordination for maritime security between the Baltic countries and those bordering the Black Sea, an area in which Poland plays an essential role.

Romania and Poland have a tradition of over a century of mutual support, inaugurated by the interwar defensive alliance of 1921. Understanding and embracing our shared history gives us a clear vision for the future,'' Oana Toiu pointed out.AGERPRES(RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Bogdan Gabaroi)
