The National Bank of Romania (BNR) is launching on Monday, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu - 150 years since her birth.
According to a release of the BNR, the obverse of the coin features a graphical composition inspired by the literary work called 'Concert din muzica de Bach' ('A Concert of Bach's Music') by Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, the inscription 'ROMANIA' in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the year of issue '2026' and the face value '10 LEI.'
The reverse depicts the portrait, the name of writer Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, as well as her birth and death years '1876' and '1955.'
The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The selling price for the silver coin, the booklet and the certificate of authenticity is lei 1,050.00, including VAT.
The maximum mintage is 300 silver coins. The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the BNR regional branches in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Dolj, Iasi and Timis.
