The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, stated on Saturday that whenever the country's airspace is violated, military personnel are already there to defend it, noting that the mission to shoot down the drone near Sfântu Gheorghe was carried out with calm, precision, and respect for what matters most: the safety of the people.

'Romanians need to know one thing: every time the country's airspace is violated, military personnel are already there to defend it. In less than 24 hours, the same Romanian Air Force F-16 crew shot down another drone that had violated Romania's airspace. It was a mission accomplished with composure, precision, and respect for what matters most: people's safety. I thank all the military personnel who keep watch over Romania's skies, day and night. Their professionalism is the strongest guarantee that we are fulfilling our mission responsibly, alongside our allies,' wrote Gheorghita Vlad on Facebook.

A new drone was shot down 10 kilometers west of the locality of Sfântu Gheorghe, Mayor Nicusor Dan announced.

'This morning, at 8:30, a new drone was shot down in Romanian airspace, 10 km west of the locality of Sfântu Gheorghe (Delta). The drone was shot down by a Romanian pilot flying an F-16 aircraft,' the President wrote on Facebook.

Acting Defense Minister Radu Miruta stated that the drone was shot down within minutes of entering airspace, and the Ministry of National Defense indicated that the drone—brought down on Saturday by a Romanian Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon—was safely struck in an unpopulated area near the border.
