Romania and India have the ambition of doubling bilateral trade in the coming years, President Nicusor Dan said on Friday at a business forum held in the context of Indian President Droupadi Murmu's state visit to Romania.
He underscored that the visit represented an important moment in bilateral relations.
'After a long time, there is high-level contact between Romania and India,' the head of state added.
According to him, Romania is a country with 'interesting energy prospects', with a highly skilled workforce and particular strengths in technology, science and IT, meaning that 'there are opportunities for cooperation'.
'The ambition is to double the volume of trade, and the EU-India free trade agreement will be a great help in this regard,' the President said at the Romania-India Business Forum.
He highlighted opportunities for cooperation in the defence industry and in the energy sector, where global development is expected in the years ahead. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Cristina Zaharia)
