Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Andy Burnham after the latter became the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in which he emphasized the importance of strengthening that country's strategic partnership with Romania.

'We wish you great success in your new role! Romania and the United Kingdom share a strategic partnership, and we, as the Government of Romania, remain committed to further strengthening our close cooperation to ensure the security and prosperity of our citizens,' Bolojan wrote on the X platform.

Labour's Andy Burnham is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. According to international news agencies, he was invited to Buckingham Palace by King Charles, who tasked him with forming the new government in London—the fourth since the sovereign's accession to the throne in September 2022.
