Romanian Naval Forces take part in the 11th activation of Black Sea Mine Countermeasures TG

The minehunter M 271 'Captain Constantin Dumitrescu' departed on Thursday from Constanta Military Port to join the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Task Group (MCM BLACK SEA), which will carry out its 11th activation from July 9 to 24.

The Romanian Naval Forces (FNR) said that the naval group will also include, alongside the M 271 minehunter, the vessels BGS Captain 1st Rank Dimitar Dobrev and BGS Struma from the Bulgarian Naval Forces, as well as TCG Akcay from the Turkish Naval Forces.

'During the activation period, the four vessels will take part in the multinational BREEZE 26 exercise, organised by the Bulgarian Naval Forces, with the aim of ensuring freedom of navigation in designated maritime training areas. The purpose of the MCM BLACK SEA operation is to carry out maritime search-and-rescue missions and maintain the safety of maritime traffic in the Black Sea through surveillance activities, the identification and neutralisation of navigation hazards,' the Romanian Naval Forces said in a press release.

The MCM Black Sea naval group will make port calls in Burgas, Bulgaria, and Umuryeri, Turkey, to restore operational readiness.
