The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) will organise on September 24, in partnership with the Romanian American University, the event 'Doing Business with Latin America', which will be attended by eight Latin American embassies, CCIB Chairman Iuliu Stocklosa said on Wednesday at a meeting with Carlos Alejandro Poffo, Argentina's ambassador to Romania.

'With the participation of eight Latin American embassies, this event will provide the business communities with a valuable framework for mutual knowledge of the markets and for identifying new directions of cooperation. In the context of the favourable developments in trade relations between the European Union and Mercosur states, we are also convinced that the initiative will contribute to strengthening economic and bilateral ties between our countries,' Stocklosa said in a statement.

During the meeting, after a brief presentation of the activity of the Bucharest Chamber, the CCIB chairman highlighted the business opportunities that Romania offers to Argentine investors, as well as the prospects of a mutually beneficial cooperation. Dialogue focused on the relations between Romania, Argentina and Latin American states, with a focus on joint projects in the fields of energy and agriculture.

Stocklosa also presented the network of CCIB representative offices in Europe, Asia and the United States of America, emphasising that a strategic objective is the inauguration of a representative offices in one or two Latin American countries.

'One of the priorities of the Embassy of the Republic of Argentina in Bucharest is to stimulate direct trade relations between the two countries, in order to increase economic exchanges and open new perspectives of collaboration between the business environments of Romania and Argentina. Argentina currently offers many investment opportunities, especially in the agriculture and energy sectors. We welcome the initiative of organising the 'Doing Business with Latin America' event and I am convinced that it will create new business opportunities and facilitate the expansion of cooperation among all participants,' said ambassador Carlos Alejandro Poffo.

The meeting ended with a visit to CCIB Palace and an exchange of views on the cultural similarities between Romania and Argentina, two Latin nations united by a diplomatic relationship of over nine decades.
