Code Yellow for rain and thunderstorms in Bucharest, seven counties; wind warning in several regions

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Saturday issued a Code Yellow weather warning for rain and thunderstorms, valid throughout the day in Dambovita, Prahova, Teleorman and Giurgiu counties, the western parts of Ialomita and Calarasi counties, Ilfov County and Bucharest.

Until 8:00 pm, these areas will experience periods of atmospheric instability marked by torrential rain, strengthening winds and thunderstorms with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h, frequent lightning and small hail measuring 1 to 2 cm. Rainfall amounts are expected to reach 15 to 25 litres per square metre over short periods of one to three hours or through accumulation, with isolated totals exceeding 30 to 40 litres per square metre.

Meteorologists also issued a Code Yellow wind warning, valid until 11:00 pm, for southern Banat, western Oltenia, most of Moldavia, Dobrogea and the Southern and Curvature Carpathians, where wind gusts are generally expected to reach 50 to 70 km/h.
