Nearly all regions of Romania will be under a Code Yellow warning for atmospheric instability, torrential rain and strong winds until Saturday morning, according to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM).
On Friday, 3 July, periods of atmospheric instability are expected in Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia, Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobrogea. The weather will bring torrential downpours, frequent lightning, strengthening winds, squalls with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and small, possibly medium-sized hail measuring 1 to 3 cm.

Over short periods of one to three hours, or through accumulation, rainfall is expected to total 15 to 25 litres per square metre, with isolated areas receiving more than 30 to 40 litres per square metre.
The weather will also be unstable in Bucharest, with periods of torrential rain, squalls and lightning, while daytime highs are expected to reach 31 degrees Celsius.
Until Saturday morning, the sky will be temporarily overcast and, particularly in the afternoon and overnight, torrential downpours totalling 5 to 15 litres per square metre, with isolated amounts exceeding 20 litres per square metre, and frequent lightning are forecast. Winds will be light to moderate, strengthening during rainfall with speeds of 50 to 60 km/h.
Maximum temperatures in the capital will range between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will fall to 17 to 18 degrees Celsius.
