The Indian Ambassador to Romania, Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, paid a visit to Botosani County on Friday, where he met with representatives of the county authorities.
The Indian diplomat met with Prefect Raluca Curelariu and the Vice President of the County Council, Constantin Bursuc.
According to representatives of the Prefect's Institution, 'the meeting aimed to strengthen the collaborative relations between Botosani County and the Republic of India, with an emphasis on economic opportunities and promoting the county's investment potential'.
During the discussions, 'Prefect Raluca Curelariu highlighted the strategic positioning of Botosani County on the eastern border of the European Union, through the common border with both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the advantages that this position offers for the development of trade and attracting investments. The main economic assets of the county, the available resources, the potential in areas such as agriculture, the food industry, the textile industry and production, as well as the opportunities for collaboration with the Indian business milieu were presented', Botosani Prefecture officials stated.
The discussion comes at a favorable time when the interest of Indian investors in Romania is growing, with bilateral trade increasing by 27% in the first nine months of 2025, and the EU-India free trade agreement, finalized in January 2026, opens a market of 2 billion people.
