Romanian agri-food products can be promoted in India, at the 'Anuga Select India 2026' Fair, an event that will take place between September 29 and October 1, 2026, in Mumbai, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) announced on Thursday, on its Facebook page.
'The Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) of the European Commission announces the opening of registrations for participation in the 'Anuga Select India 2026' Fair, which will take place from 29 September to 1 October 2026, in Mumbai (India). The EU Pavilion will be organized as a modern institutional stand, dedicated to excellence and European quality standards. The selected products will benefit from exceptional visibility, being included in tasting sessions and culinary demonstrations (live cooking shows) held by renowned chefs, in front of Indian partners and consumers,' the post says.
The product categories specifically targeted are: dairy products, fruit and vegetables, processed products (confectionery, chocolate, biscuits, etc.), wine and spirits.
Special attention will also be paid to products recognized with Geographical Indication (PGI/PDO).
According to a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Rural Affairs, the event in Mumbai represents one of the most important promotion platforms for agri-food products on the Indian market. By organizing the EU Pavilion, the European Union aims to raise awareness among Indian consumers about the quality, safety and diversity of agri-food products and beverages originating from the EU, with a view to encouraging/stimulating imports, increasing consumption and consolidating their presence on the Indian market.
'The pavilion will be organized in the form of an institutional stand, dedicated to promoting general messages regarding European quality standards. It will feature agri-food products representative of all member states, from various categories, which will be exhibited for tasting, as well as presented during culinary shows/demonstrations held during the event. The main objective is to ensure the widest possible representation at the fair, so the organizers propose that the EU Pavilion host as many agri-food products as possible from all member states, in order to offer visitors a comprehensive image of their diversity and quality,' the press release states.
Registration for the fair is done online, by filling out the European form, then the following stages take place: announcement of selected products - by July 17, 2026; transmission of logistical documentation - by August 14, 2026; delivery of samples to the Mumbai warehouse - by September 15, 2026.
'The supplier is solely responsible for organizing and covering the cost of delivery (including transportation) to the designated storage facility in India. The contractor is responsible for handling the products after they are received at the designated warehouse in India and is not responsible for problems that arise during transportation,' specifies the MADR.
