Three quarters of Romania, including Bucharest, will be under a Code Red warning for scorching heat and severe thermal discomfort until Wednesday morning, with maximum temperatures expected to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius.
According to the forecast issued by the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), between 10:00 on 29 June and 10:00 on 1 July, the regions of Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia, Oltenia and the western half of Muntenia will experience extreme maximum temperatures comparable to the absolute June records. Thermal discomfort will be particularly severe and the Temperature-Humidity Index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

Maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 41 degrees Celsius, with the highest values expected in Banat and Crisana. Nights will remain tropical, with minimum temperatures generally ranging between 17 and 25 degrees Celsius.
During the same period, a Code Orange warning for intense heat, heatwave conditions, tropical nights and high thermal discomfort will be in force for Dobrogea and the eastern half of Muntenia, where the THI will also exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will range from 32 degrees Celsius in the Danube Delta to 38 degrees Celsius elsewhere.
Tropical nights are also expected, with minimum temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.
