Romanian President Nicusor Dan will receive Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Monday during the latter's official visit to Romania at the invitation of the Romanian head of state.

The visit also coincides with President Herzog's participation in ceremonies marking the 85th anniversary of the Iasi Pogrom.

'President Isaac Herzog's visit reflects the very positive momentum in bilateral relations and the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two states, an ambition reaffirmed by the increasing frequency of high-level contacts in recent years. The visit highlights the strength of the Romania-Israel relationship, founded on extensive political and economic cooperation and deep people-to-people ties,' the Presidential Administration said in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday.

The two heads of state will discuss ways to further develop bilateral relations across areas of mutual interest, with a particular focus on expanding the economic partnership and cooperation in security and defence.

The agenda will also include sectoral cooperation, including Holocaust education and measures to combat antisemitism in Romania, as well as the development of cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.

Particular attention will also be given to recent developments in Romania's neighbourhood and the Black Sea region, as well as in the Middle East, with a focus on their impact on security in both regions and on the global economy.
