Swimmer David Popovici ranks second in 50 m freestyle at Settecolli Trophy

Romanian swimmer David Popovici, Olympic, world and European champion, ranked second in Final A of the men's 50 m freestyle, on Friday evening, at the Settecolli International Trophy, in Rome.

Popovici was timed 21 sec 82/100 at the 62nd edition of the competition, being overtaken by Brazilian Guilherme Santos Caribe, 21 sec 46/100. The podium was completed by Italian Leonardo Deplano, with a time of 21 sec 90/100.

Santos Caribe had also achieved the best time in the heats, 21 sec 77/100, and Popovici had the second time, 21 sec 92/100, tied with Croatian Jere Hribar.

Also on Friday, Denis Popescu finished last (8th) in the Men's 100m Butterfly Final B (52.74).
