President Nicusor Dan reports that the parties have returned to 'political deadlock', after the PNL committed on Tuesday to vote for a PSD minority government, but later changed its position.

'We have returned to the political deadlock that on Tuesday we thought had been overcome. Based on the parties' positions from the consultations, there was only one formula that seemed to meet the support of a parliamentary majority: a PSD minority government. On Tuesday, the PNL committed to voting for a PSD minority government, with certain conditions regarding the governing program. From Tuesday until today, the PNL has changed its position,' Nicusor Dan wrote on Friday on X.

He mentioned that it is the responsibility of the parties to negotiate among themselves a majority for any government formula they deem appropriate.

'I continue to ask them to return to dialogue. Romania needs a government with full powers,' emphasized Nicusor Dan. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Irinela Visan, editing by: Antonia Nita; EN - writing by: Catalin Cristian Trandafir)
