Wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 1.8% as gross series in the first four months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025 and by 1.7%, in the first four months of 2026, as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Friday.
According to official statistics, between 1 January and 30 April 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, positive results were recorded in specialised wholesale of other products (+11.9%), wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+6.8%), wholesale of consumer goods excluding food (+5.2%) and in wholesale trade intermediation activities (+4.3%). Declines were recorded in non-specialised wholesale (-11.7%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-4%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-3.5%) and wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (-2.8%).
In April 2026, wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles) fell compared with March this year, both as gross series by 14.7% and as adjusted series according to the number of working days and seasonality by 4.2%.
Wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, in April 2026 compared with the previous month, decreased as a result of declines recorded in wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (-27.2%), wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (-25.7%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-20.1%), specialised wholesale of other products (-17.6%), wholesale of consumer goods excluding food (-12.1%), non-specialised wholesale (-8.8%), wholesale trade intermediation activities (-7.3%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-6.3%).
Compared with April 2025, wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), in April 2026 decreased both as gross series by 0.5% and as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality by 1%.
Wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, in April 2026 compared with April 2025 decreased following the declines recorded in non-specialised wholesale (-16.7%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-13.1%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-7.5%), wholesale trade intermediation activities (-7.1%) and wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (-0.1%). Increases were recorded in specialised wholesale of other products (+16.0%), wholesale of consumer goods excluding food (+4.3%) and wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+1.6%).
