Prime-minister-designate Adrian Vestea said on Monday, after his proposed Cabinet was rejected in Parliament, that the vote was not the outcome he had hoped for, but he respects it.

'Today's vote was not the one I had hoped for Romania. But the vote is sovereign and I respect it. I did not seek this position for the sake of office; I accepted it because the country needs stability, not a deadlock. That remains true regardless of today's result. Forty-seven days without a government are already costing us too much: European funds, trust, and time we will not recover. I remain convinced that responsibility must outweigh any political calculation,' Vestea wrote on Facebook.
