The Postal Workers' March will cross the border for the first time in its history and arrive in Chisinau where, between 24 and 26 June, approximately 800 postal workers and representatives of postal institutions from Romania and the Republic of Moldova will gather for the 46th edition of the most important event dedicated to the profession.
Organised by Posta Romana National Company (CNPR), through the Posta Romana Foundation, the event marks a first for the postal community and carries special historical significance: the celebration of 100 years since the first airmail and commercial flight on the Bucharest-Galati-Chisinau route, a milestone that opened new paths for communication, connectivity and closer ties between communities on both sides of the Prut River.
According to a Romanian Post press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, a joint stamp issue commemorating this historic moment will be launched in Chisinau on 24 June in collaboration with Posta Moldovei.
'With a tradition that began in 1977, the Postal Workers' March is more than a sporting competition. It is a celebration of a profession that has remained, for generations, a symbol of trust, responsibility and direct connection between people. The event highlights the values that define the postal worker's mission: professionalism, dedication, team spirit and community involvement. The anniversary edition in 2026 transforms Chisinau into a meeting point for history and the future, a space reflecting the cultural and professional ties between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Hosting the Postal Workers' March in the Republic of Moldova for the first time represents recognition of a shared tradition and of the role postal services play in connecting people,' the press release reads.
The central event of the programme will take place on 25 June 2026. At 10:00, participants will start the competition in the area of Great National Assembly Square, while the awards ceremony will celebrate participants' achievements and team spirit. On the same evening, from 19:00, guests and participants will gather at the Palace of the Republic for a reception dedicated to this special edition.
'The Postal Workers' March is an expression of respect for the people who carry forward one of the closest and most respected professions. In 2026, this tradition takes an important step forward: it unites two postal communities, two countries and generations of professionals who share the same mission - connecting people,' is the message of the anniversary edition.
According to the release, the 46th edition represents not only a new competitive stage but also a celebration 'of a heritage built over time.' In Chisinau, the Postal Workers' March becomes a symbol of continuity, cooperation and ties that transcend borders.
In December 2022, Posta Romana inaugurated its first subsidiary outside Romania in the Republic of Moldova. The opening of this unit in Chisinau marked an important step within the 'Romania - Logistics Hub' project, through which CNPR supports the Republic of Moldova's integration into the regional connectivity network and the development of a strategic logistics hub in South-Eastern Europe.
'Through this initiative, Posta Romana strengthened its internationalisation strategy, committing itself to the development of long-term plans for expanding its operations and increasing its presence on foreign markets.
