Romania won eight medals, four gold and four silver, at the Balkan Athletics Championships held on Saturday and Sunday in Volos, Greece, the Romanian Athletics Federation announced on its Facebook page.
In the women's 400 metres, Andrea Miklos won gold in 52.26 seconds, while Stefania Balint took silver in 52.66 seconds.
Romania also claimed gold and silver in the women's long jump through Ramona Elena Verman, who recorded a personal best of 6.78 metres, and Alina Rotaru-Kottmann, who jumped 6.64 metres.
Alin Alexandru Firfirica won gold in the discus with a throw of 63.49 metres. Another gold medal came from the mixed 4x400m relay team of Andrea Miklos, Stefania Balint, Mihai Sorin Dringo and Sorin Alexandru Voinea, who clocked 3 min 18.58 sec.
Mihai Sorin Dringo secured silver in the men's 400 metres (45.57 sec), while Andrei Rares Toader finished second in the shot put with 19.95 metres.
Jennifer Dossey placed fourth in the triple jump with 13.63 metres. Fourth-place finishes were also achieved by Cristian Gabriel Voicu in the 800 metres (1:47.89) and Alin Ionut Anton in the 110m hurdles (16.86 sec).
David Stefan Damian finished fifth in the 400m hurdles (51.03 sec). Anamaria Nesteriuc placed sixth in the 100m hurdles (13.57 sec), as did Mihaela Blaga in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:37.80) and Federica Gabriela Apostol in the high jump (1.84 metres).
