Sixteen Liberal MPs from the anti-Bolojan faction filed a new lawsuit on Friday with the Ilfov Tribunal, seeking to suspend two decisions of the PNL National Political Bureau's June 17 meeting, that convened an Extraordinary National Council for June 19 and an Extraordinary Congress for June 21.
The same group had obtained, in record time on Thursday, a court order suspending the National Political Bureau's decisions sanctioning PNL MPs who might vote to confirm the Vestea Government.
The plaintiffs are: Monica Anisie, Andrei Baciu, Sorin Cimpeanu, Mihai Culeafa, Alina Gorghiu, Ion Iordache, Aneta Matei, Ciprian Pandea, Nicoleta Pauliuc, Alexandru Popa, Razvan Prisca, George Scarlat, Ionut Stroe, Mihail Vestea, Sebastian Mihai Rusu and Eduard Tatian Mititelu.
They filed an injunction against the National Liberal Party, with a hearing date yet to be set.
According to political sources, the MPs request the urgent suspension of National Political Bureau Decisions 26 and 27/17 June 2026, arguing that the leadership called the two extraordinary meetings 'in disregard of all statutory deadlines', with the 'obvious aim of amending the party Statute and removing members with dissenting views'.
They also filed a separate lawsuit against the party and its Chairman, seeking 250,000 RON in moral damages per claimant - a total of 4 million RON.
In their filing, they argue that the National Political Bureau exceeded its powers by convening an Extraordinary Congress - an authority reserved exclusively for the National Council - and by creating 'a non-existent statutory body', an Extraordinary National Council of 800 delegates. They also claim statutory deadlines were compressed from the required 45 - 60 days to just four days, that open voting was imposed despite mandatory secret ballots for decisions involving individuals, and that the leadership ignored an enforceable court ruling suspending earlier National Political Bureau decisions. The real purpose of the entire mechanism, they argue, is to expel members and elected officials with dissenting views - a crime of conscience prohibited by the Statute (Art. 13(a)), by the Constitution (Arts. 29 and 30), and by the European Convention on Human Rights (Arts. 9 - 11).
On Monday, the PNL National Political Bureau voted against joining a government with PSD, against supporting a Cabinet led by Adrian Vestea, and in favour of asking him to resign his mandate as PM-designate. It also decided that PNL MPs who vote for the Vestea Government - or accept positions therein - would lose party membership.
