The Political Committee of Save Romania Union (USR) will meet on Wednesday from 18:30, party spokesperson Cristian Seidler announced.

The body is expected to formally endorse the position already adopted by the USR National Bureau regarding the nomination of Adrian Vestea for the Prime Minister office.

Through a resolution unanimously adopted on Sunday, the USR National Bureau took note of Adrian Vestea's nomination and of the fact that the party had not been informed in advance of this decision.

'We owe clarity to our voters. We will remain consistent with our decision not to form another government with the [Social Democratic Party] PSD. A government that delivers results for citizens cannot be born out of the betrayal of its own party. We will not betray the hopes and trust of our voters. We will convene a Political Committee meeting to make a formal decision regarding the Vestea Government,' the aforementioned source said.

At the same time, USR argued that the formal establishment of a reformist and pro-democracy bloc representing citizens with reform-oriented views is 'absolutely necessary.'

'That bloc will oppose both extremism and a corrupt state, today and in the years ahead. Only around such a bloc can a government be formed that maintains the reformist and democratic course and delivers results, as USR ministers have done over the past year,' the press release also reads.
