Story of Transylvania's Saxons told through three-century-old household at ASTRA Museum in Sibiu

Visitors to the ASTRA Museum are invited to discover the history and traditions of Transylvania's ethnic Germans during the 'Saxon Journey' event, to be held on 20-21 June at the Saxon winegrower's household from Seica Mica, Sibiu County, a listed house more than three centuries old, the museum announced on Facebook.

According to the organisers, activities will take place on Saturday and Sunday between 10:30 and 17:30 and will include themed tours dedicated to the Saxon community in Transylvania. The household featured during the event dates back to the second half of the 17th century and reflects, through its dimensions and architectural elements, the social status of its former owners.

Visitors will be able to explore the courtyard, outbuildings and interior of the house, including the traditional gute Stube ('best room'), and learn about the daily life of a Saxon family. They will also be able to admire painted furniture and textiles characteristic of the community.
