PNL ultimatum set for Adrian Vestea expires

The ultimatum set by the National Liberal Party's (PNL) leadership for party member Adrian Vestea to step down from the mandate entrusted to him by President Nicusor Dan to form a Government expired at 10:00 on Tuesday morning.

On Monday evening, PNL's National Political Bureau asked Prime Minister-designate Adrian Vestea to step down.

'Taking into account that the night is a good counsellor, the PNL requested Mr Vestea to give up his mandate by 10:00 tomorrow morning, considering that he does not have the support of the party he comes from,' PNL leader Ilie Bolojan said.

Shortly after the Liberal leadership meeting, Adrian Vestea announced that he would not give up his mandate.

'I want this to be very clear: I am not giving up my mandate as Prime Minister-designate. I accepted this responsibility in good faith and I will continue with the mandate entrusted to me, because Romania urgently needs stability and a functional Government,' Adrian Vestea wrote on his Facebook page.
