Mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, soprano Paula Iancic and tenor Teodor Ilincai, accompanied by the Bucharest National Opera Orchestra conducted by Daniel Jinga, will perform on 22 October at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the world's oldest opera house still in operation.

‘For the Bucharest National Opera Orchestra, the performance in Naples follows concerts at venues such as La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. In recent years, we have performed at two of Italy's major venues, and meeting the audience at the Teatro di San Carlo represents another stage in this journey. The opportunity to present Romanian artists with international careers alongside our orchestra allows us to introduce Romanian musical training and tradition to Italian audiences and Romanian communities in Italy,' said conductor Daniel Jinga, director general of the Bucharest National Opera, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.

Romania's Ambassador in Rome Gabriela Dancau stressed that the gala at the Teatro di San Carlo naturally continues the bilateral cultural dialogue as part of the Romanian semester of the Romania-Italy Cultural Year.

‘The presence of outstanding Romanian artists on one of the world's most prestigious opera stages is an expression of Romanian cultural excellence and an opportunity to meet Italian audiences and the Romanian community in Italy,' Dancau added.

The event is organised by the Bucharest National Opera in collaboration with the Embassy of Romania to Italy, the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Naples and the Teatro di San Carlo.

The Naples gala forms part of a series of performances that have taken the Bucharest opera orchestra to major venues in Italy's musical scene in recent years.

In November 2024, the orchestra conducted by Daniel Jinga gave its first gala concert at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, featuring Valentina Nafornita, Ruxandra Donose and Stefan Pop.

At the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Bucharest National Opera Orchestra officially opened the Romania-Italy Cultural Year 2026 on 1 December 2025, with a gala concert held on Romania's National Day. The evening's soloists were soprano Anita Hartig, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose and tenor Stefan Pop.
