Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan held talks on Monday at Victoria Palace with a delegation from the OMV Group regarding developments in the energy sector, against the backdrop of fuel price fluctuations driven by international conflicts and supply crises.
The delegation was led by Emma Delaney, Chair of the Executive Board and CEO of OMV, as well as interim member and Chair of the Supervisory Board of OMV Petrom.
According to a Government's release sent to AGERPRES, a key topic of the discussion was the Neptun Deep project, a strategic investment for Romania, in which the Romanian state, through Romgaz, is collaborating with OMV Petrom.
The project is proceeding according to the established schedule, with actual production set to begin next year, the cited source indicates.
In this context, Bolojan emphasized the importance of exploiting Black Sea natural gas resources for the Romanian economy, noting that they will contribute to strengthening national energy security.
'Completing the investment and commencing gas extraction from the Neptun Deep perimeter must remain governmental priorities so that Romania can harness Black Sea resources for the benefit of the national economy and the entire region. We must find effective cooperation mechanisms to ensure aligned action on this project, which is strategic for both parties,' stated Ilie Bolojan.
He also expressed his thanks to the OMV Petrom team for their transparent cooperation and constant dialogue with the Romanian authorities.
Mihai Jurca, Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, also attended the meeting at Victoria Palace. AGERPRES(RO - writing by: Georgiana Tanasescu; EN - writing by: Bogdan Gabaroi)
