Gendarmes and military personnel from four countries took part in a tactical activity as part of 'Carpathian Blue Shield - 2026' international exercise, the Arges County Gendarmerie Inspectorate (IJJ) announced on Thursday.
The activity, held on Wednesday, was hosted by the 'General Vasile Milea' Training Centre for CBRN Operations.
'The activity brought together structures from the national defence, public order and national security system, along with international partners, providing a relevant framework for strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, harmonising procedures and making use of shared professional experience. Alongside the Arges County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, participants included representatives of the 'General Vasile Milea' Training Centre for CBRN Operations, the Arges Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the 30th Mountain Troops Battalion 'Dragoslavele' and CNCAN, as well as Romanian military personnel and partners from Slovakia, Bulgaria and Ukraine,' the Arges County Gendarmerie Inspectorate release informed.
The activity held in Arges County was based on a fictional scenario involving a response to a complex crisis situation, testing response capabilities, the coordination of forces on the ground and the implementation of specific intervention procedures.
During the exercise conducted in the Leresti-Valea Poienii area, local residents could observe the movement of forces and intervention vehicles, the presence of Romanian and foreign military personnel, as well as the use of special equipment, the Arges IJJ representatives said. Moreover, non-lethal ammunition was also used during the tactical sequences, which is why the associated noises could be heard.
One of the largest interoperability exercises held in Europe began in Romania on Sunday, the Romanian Gendarmerie informed. More than 500 military personnel and gendarmes from 19 countries across three continents are taking part in the training.
From 27 September to 2 October, several training activities, including tactical simulations and troop movements, are taking place in the counties of Dambovita, Prahova, Arges and Ilfov. The exercise is organised by the Romanian Gendarmerie. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: George Onea; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
