The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.4% in August 2026, unchanged from July 2026, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Thursday.
The unemployment rate among women was 0.2 percentage points higher than among men, at 6.5% for women and 6.3% for men.
The number of unemployed people (aged 15-74) estimated for August 2026 was 523,400, down from the previous month (526,800) and up from the same period last year (494,800).
For adults aged 25-74, the unemployment rate was estimated at 5.2% in August 2026 (5.1% for men and 5.3% for women). The number of unemployed people aged 25-74 accounted for 76.5% of the total number of unemployed people estimated for August 2026.
