President Nicusor Dan met former US ambassadors to Romania in New York, thanking them for their contribution to promoting Romania and their work to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations.

The president said the US-Romania partnership has been an 'enduring achievement' built on 'solid foundations'.

'I met in New York with former US ambassadors, whom I thanked for their contribution to promoting Romania and for their work to strengthen and deepen our bilateral relationship. The US-Romania partnership has been an enduring achievement, built over generations on solid foundations which we continue to strengthen today,' he wrote on Facebook.

According to the president, the meeting was also attended by ambassadors who had represented the United States in other European countries and at various multilateral organisations, as well as representatives of think tanks, 'all friends of Romania who know our country well'.

'We discussed our main priorities: defence cooperation, expanding the US economic presence in Romania and strengthening the transatlantic alliance,' the president said.
