Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan estimates that all the issues related to the supply of medicines which require special authorisations for cancer patients should be resolved within a few days.

'I understand for the House [National Health Insurance House] - because I have sought to keep informed and see what the issues are at all times - most of them, over 90%, almost 100% of patients in Romania benefit from treatments with medicines included on our lists, which are covered, in stock and there are no delays and no problems in this regard. But, indeed, there is a category of patients who need special treatment, which means niche imports in smaller quantities which are being brought exclusively for these patients and here, indeed, certain supply shortages can occur, but we must try to avoid such situations, so they can receive their treatment on time,' Bolojan told Digi 24 private television station.

He mentioned that he requested the National Health Insurance House (CNAS) to solve these supply shortages, adding that the problems should be solved within a few days.

'I understand that these are shortages that mean a few days' delay in such situations for medicines requiring special authorisations. It is a matter of quantities, stocks, transport, logistics and so on. (...) I expect the issue to be resolved as soon as possible, within a few days,' Ilie Bolojan said.
